Winged Eyeliner + Pink Lips FOTD

 (without flash)
(with flash)

Hello lovelies,

Spontaneously I'm going out tonight to a friends place for a couple of drinks and although I'm quite tired, I've had a coffee and am now downing an energy drink (holy shit I'm being unhealthy uh oh). One of the only reasons I agreed to go out is because I love getting all dolled up and since I haven't put on makeup all week, it sounded like an opportunity. I didn't go too crazy with my makeup, but i did want to incorporate winged eyeliner.

So What's On My Face?
Garnier BB Cream Oil Free in Light
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NC20
Rimmel Silk Loose Translucent Powder
Essence Sun Club Bronzer
Etude House Aloha Bronzer
Benefit Dandelion Blush
Elizabeth Arden Highlighter in Nude Shimmer
NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Misfit (the cream one)
Urban Decay Naked Palette (Virgin, Naked, Hustle)
Essence Eye Liner in White

Dark Pink Ombre Lips - LOPD (Mini Tutorial)

Hello Lovelies,

I don't know about you, but when I'm feeling sick and nice lip combo tends to cheer me up and make me feel less ill. Unfortunately I think I may have a head cold coming up but, you never know my fates might change. *fingers crossed*

Recently I've been seeing so many ombre lips on Instagram and thought I'd try my hand at it, and even though I don't own any light or sheer pink lipsticks, my take on the ombre lip is focused around dark pinks.

So how'd I create this little treat?

First off I used Maybelline's Baby Lips Lip Balm so that my lips wouldn't dry out from all the extra products. I lined my lips with Essence's lip liner in Red Blush which is a sort of burgundy shade. The main lipstick for this creation is the Inglot Lipstick in 194. For the corners I added a little bit of red for dimension, the red I used was Urban Decay Super-Saturated Lip Color in F-Bomb.

I think this lip would be perfect with a subtle smokey eye and paired with whatever you might have planned for the upcoming Valentine's Day.

What do you think of ombre lips?

Real Techniques 2014 Collection Haul

 Hello Lovelies,

So guess what rocked up in the mail today! Yep, new Real Techniques brushes, and my first thought is not on how absolutely beautiful they are, but that I ordered them on Friday and got them this morning, take into fact that they came from the USA and there was a public holiday over here, I can say that is pretty darn amazing. I bought them off iHerb since they are significantly cheaper there and their postage isn't that expensive ($8 for DHL International tracked).

When I saw that Real Techniques were releasing new brushes I immediately checked them out and fell in love. I hope to get them all but I settled for purchasing my two favourites of the collection, which are the retractable bronzer brush and the silicone liner brush.

I've been in the market recently for a bronzer brush since my current dodgy one is loosing hairs and kinda stabbing me in the face a little. This little baby here is duo-fiber (which I love) and super duper soft. I haven't tried it out yet but I'm super excited to do so.

As some of you know, I kinda horde eyeliners yet I have come to despise the brushes they supply with them. I love that this brush is silicone since that will help with gliding eyeliners on the eye. I actually tried this one out with a gel eyeliner this afternoon and it was so incredibly amazing, I was a little blown away.

Here's where you can get these brushes: http://www.iherb.com/Real-Techniques-by-Samantha-Chapman

What brushes do you love?

Weekly Lustables

Hello Lovelies,

Well hasn't this week been boring as hell, I've been cooped up in my room reading a whole heap and not doing much, which is kinda nice. Today is actually Australia Day if you're from here and Alex and I are having a big bbq with our friends, it's gonna be a good night.

1. Aristotle and Dante - This one was a recommendation from my sister who is actually a book blogger and is majorly obsessed with books, so I knew it would be positively amazing. I started it on Saturday evening and finished it on Monday night, which for me is a really short time to read a book, but I honestly couldn't put it down. It's quite incredible and the ending is insanely satisfying. Totally recommend.

2. LUSH Snow Fairy - I've used this little baby everyday this week and I love the way it fills up my shower with it's sweet scent. Kinda makes my showers magical in a sense!

3. Nescafe Butterscotch Latte Sachets - Now I may be the only coffee crazed person who doens't own a coffee machine, but in my opinion these are the next best thing. I'm pretty sure these are a new flavor and they might not stick around but it totally feels like cafe quality coffee, which is a massive step up from instant coffee.

4. American Authors (EP) - I'm not just in love with one of their songs but all of them, their EP is amazing and I hope you check them out. Best Day of My Life has gotten pretty popular!

What have you been loving this week?

NOTD Sinful Colors Cupid's Arrow

Hello Lovelies,

I've been meaning to paint my nails since the new year but I haven't since I don't like doing my nails when I don't have any nail polish remover left, and well apparently it takes me a couple of weeks to buy some. This is one of the polishes I picked up at the Christmas sales and well I really like this one, I'm big on pastels and nudes and this one is kinda perfect for me, just very simple.

What are you wearing on your nails?

Hello Lovelies,

We all have our own little wishlists and I've found that I have collected this small list of items that, well, I would love to add to my collection.

  1. Essie Nail Polish in Chinchilly ( I've been in the market for some more nudes/greys)
  2. Real Techniques Silicone Liner Brush
  3. Sleep I-Divine Palette in Oh So Special (I've been wanting to purchase this for ages!)
  4. Real Techniques Retractable Bronzer Brush

Hopefully in the coming months I actually purchase some of these, but then again I'm starting uni again soon, so that'll take all my money.

What have you been wishing for?

Weekly Lustables

Hello Lovelies,

To be completely honest not much happened this week, it was filled with work and movies. I did how ever receive an offer for my new bachelor's degree, which was amazing. I started university last year and I was studying a degree in Entertainment Industries which was a combination of courses on law, business and creative industries. I became enthralled and loved the business subjects so I'm now doing a  Business degree majoring in marketing, can't wait to start.

1. About Time - Alex and I watched this while having a lazy day and it was just a gorgeous film, I didn't find it too corny or predictable and honestly found the characters believable and unique. It's a little bit different to your normal romantic movies, since it is quite serious yet the main character can travel in time! It's a simply beautiful film and I would definitely recommend it.

2. Say Something - A Great Big World - I can't quite pinpoint why I've been in love with this song this week, I just find it absolutely gorgeous. The version with Christina Aguilera is also very lovely.

3. Garnier Perfect Blur - Recently I tweeted that I picked this up and I've been wearing under my foundation every day I've worn makeup. I texture is amazing and is a wonderful primer/base. It was only $16.99 which isn't too pricey for a decent primer.

4. Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon - I mentioned this is a Weekly Lustables a while back, but this week I finally just sat down and finished it. I haven't read too many mystery novels before so it was such satisfying feeling to see everything come together. The ending is so incredibly amazing, I honestly couldn't put it down.

What have you been loving this week? I'd love to know :)

Sheet Masks Vs. Mud Masks - #2014BloggerChallenge

Skincare isn't just for cleaning, in my opinion, it's also to treat the skin and one of the best ways to treat your face is by using a mask. I haven't tried many but I own and have tried two types of masks and both have their pros and cons. Of course these are subject to the two products mentioned, which are the Beauty Diary Black Pearl Masks and the Formula 10.0.6 Pores Be Pure Mud Mask.

Beauty Diary Black Pearl Masks
These are a little interesting, I had heard them raved about by beauty YouTubers and thought that when I went to Asia I'd pick some up. I actually got to try one when I was still traveling and well it honestly felt like a pro facial, I'll admit I did look a little strange though. The Black Pearl Mask specifically targets dehydrated skin and contains deep sea red algae and mallow extracts to restore the natural moisture in the face. These are sheet masks, so when you open the little sachet you pull out a folded sheet that resembles (I say that lightly) a face. They leave space for your eyes and mouth and have tabs to pull over your ears. The sheet is soaked in the product and therefore they are a little runny and there is a potential of them getting a little messy. It's suggested to leave them on for 20-30 minutes, so it's perfect if you're watching tv. The time frame is a little longer than other masks, but the results are amazing! My skin feels so replenished and soft and I instantly want to do it again!

Formula 10.0.6 Pores Be Pure Mask
I got this beauty a while back and have tried it a handful of times. It mainly targets clogged pores and eliminating impurities in the skin. The smell is amazing, since it has strawberry and yarrow in it. With this mask you apply a thin layer of the product over the face and then let it sit for 10-15 mins. During this time the product hardens up on your face and it feels so incredibly weird, since you can hardly move your face! After that you follow up with a warm water rinse and then finish with some moisturizer (if that's your thing) since this targets clarifying and doesn't replenish any moisture.

Both types of masks are brilliant and each types will have masks that suit different skin concerns. The Black Pearl Masks are great for rehydrating but suck up a lot of time whereas the Pores be Pure one is wonderful at unclogging pores and it relatively quick and simple. So if you're time pressured I'd suggest a mud mask, but for a real treat; sheet masks are a luxury.

What do you do to treat your skin? I'd love to hear your thoughts :)

Maybelline Color Whisper Lipsick in Pink Possibilites Review + Swatches

Hello Lovelies,

Not long ago Maybelline released a new series to their Color Sensation range, and since I was in love with those, it seemed right to try out the new Color Whisper collection. Although I only purchased one, I plan to expand my collection. The particular shade that I picked up was 65 Pink Possibilities which is a light yet bright pink.

When I swatched it in the store I noticed that it was quite similar to the Revlon Lip Butters and since it's still summer over here, I assumed the Color Whispers would hold the same standard. First off, the packaging is simple, yet quite sleek and similar to the Color Sensations lipsticks. These are slimmer and I do admire the similarity to the Revlon ones with the flat top design.

I found that it swatches lighter on my hand than on my lips, which I see as a bonus. I find the the pigmentation is perfect for such a weightless product and I honestly thought it would be sheerer on my lips. The formula is extremely lightweight and I found it amazingly moisturizing. I would honestly use this as a lip balm! In my opinion, these are softer and more lightweight than the Revlon Lip Butters and I think that's due to their added sheerness. Overall these are quite impressive and are worth a try, especially if you like the Revlon dupes. At Priceline they retail for $14.95 which makes these quite an affordable addition to any lipstick collection. The color range is alright, but I hope they expand it in the coming year.

What's your opinion on these types of lipsticks (Color Whispers or the Revlon Lip Butters etc.)?

Life Update - #5

As I sit here semi hungover I think it's a wonderful time to sum up the last couple of weeks, or at least the one that just past. I feel kinda crappy since I haven't blogged in awhile but I know that the giveaway is giving me a little bit of lee way, but nonetheless I have my reasons why I've been a little slack lately. As some of you might know, I've been on the job hunt for quite some time and it's literally driving me up the wall, I get so frustrated that I can't seem to get one and it makes me feel like crap. My mum is always over me about it, which doesn't help the whole personal conundrum that goes through my head. She, herself works from home and has been doing so for the last couple of years, she is one of the hardest worked people since she's her own boss, and this week she may've offered me a job which simultaneously alleviates stress and work off her and provides me with a semi stable income, that might just help fund the shopping I plan on doing when I go to the states, or more accurately Sephora. This is my explanation, I've been so busy actually working this week and since I've never had a job while blogging, it might take a bit of time to work my time out.

Now this week hasn't just been all work, I did however have a terrifying experience on Monday afternoon. Alex, my sister and I started heading over to my uncle's place for a family gathering, even though the sky was a weird combination of dark blues and greys. All of us decided that it was still okay to drive and we headed on our way. We hadn't even been driving for 15 minutes before we had to turn around since there were trees falling down all around us and branches heading for our windscreen. We took shelter at the nearby service station and waited nearly an hour for the storm to pass. All of us were drenched and my sister was freaking out, but we ended up having a lovely evening after the ordeal.

After all the hours I invested into working this week, Elizabeth and I decided to go to the movies and then shopping on Friday. We had both read The Book Thief and had both been eagerly awaiting the movies' release. I doubt we've ever blubbered the most than we did during that movie. The adaption was amazing and our big fat tears were somewhat proof.

Time to explain the semi hungoverness. Last night Alex had a gathering at his place and I invited two of my friends after we went bowling and laser tag yesterday afternoon. It was pretty tame, which is always nice, there was a lot of vodka and bourbon which made for quite a drunken evening. I'm feeling fine now but I think the fact that I'm currently in bed, listening to music definitely brightens my mood.

I'm fully aware that this is such a long text based post but I figured I needed to post something and well I haven't been loving that many things this week so this is replacing this week's Weekly Lustables.

Favourite Makeup Products 2013

Hello Lovelies,

I know I'm a little behind the gun when it comes to doing favourites, but I think it's a good idea to share my makeup favourites for last year. I've picked one or two for each category so that you're not bombarded with a million favourites, these are just my extremely loved and worn products of 2013. This post is just makeup, I did have a few skincare favourites but not enough to justify making a whole other post, and plus I don't have the bottle anymore for my favourite cleanser of 2013 (which was Philosophy's Purity Cleanser).

 Foundation
This would have to be, hands down, the best foundation I used all last year. Of course it's Revlon's Colorstay, I'm in the shade 200 Nude and this shade suits my skin perfectly. I've never had a better coverage or consistency with any other foundation. It is extremely durable and managed to endure Australia's hot summers and long ass uni days, so it definitely deserves an award.

Concealer
I tried waaaayyyy too many concealers last year but the winner was actually one I'd bought the year before and had been hiding in my makeup kit, and it is Estee Lauder's Creme Concealer. It is the only concealer I tried that had full coverage. I mainly used this under my eyes but it also worked wonders on blemishes and redness.

Powder
If you know me at all, you'd know that I'm sort of a powder hound, I go through them with lightning speed and can definitely pick a good one from a bad or mediocre one. Last year's winner definitely went to Rimmel's Stay Matte Powder, as you can see, it saw many a day and is need of a repurchase. It's so amazing due to the fact that it does indeed keep my face matte, which is a problem being an oily skin girl who lives in one of the hottest and not to mention humid places.

Blush
This is another product that saw a lot of light in the year of 2013 and it is MaxFactor's Flawless Perfection Blush in 220 Classic Rose. I swear I reach for this blush every day and have to tell myself that it's okay to use another one, I'm seriously attached to it. I've had this one for so long, I'm not even sure you can buy it anymore!

Bronzer
Well this was a no-brainer, I've mentioned this bronzer more times then I can remember. I learnt how to contour and work with bronzers and highlighters in 2013 and the Maybelline Fit Me Bronzer in Light Bronze has been just a treat. Since I'm quite pale it works wonders with my complexion and really helps create a natural glow.

Highlighter
I don't own many highlighters but boy am I glad I own The Balm's Mary Lou-Manizer, it works really well on accentuating my cheekbones and I'm going to be devastated when I run out of this amazing product.
Eyeliner
There may be a slight chance that I hoard eyeliners but by far my favourite and most used eyeliner is my K-Palette one that I got in Singapore. It's a pen/brush eyeliner and the pigmentation is wonderful and it never moves, and I mean that it takes me so long to get it off. I think this product is the sole reason I learnt how to do winged eyeliner.

Mascara
Now this is a little controversial since a lot of people loved the Clump Crusher and a heap hated it, me personally, I loved it. Works perfectly with my lashes and gives them amazing length and volume without clumping and still keeps them relatively natural.

Lips
Although I have loved some lip liners I've narrowed the lips category down to three products and they are Maybelline ColorSensational in 912 Electric Orange, MAC in House Wine and the Nivea Fruity Shine in Strawberry. All three of these are amazing, I'd probably say that house wine is my most worn shade of 2013.

Eyeshadows
This was a given and I suppose it comes to no surprise that the Urban Decay Naked Palette is my favourite palette and contains my most used eyeshadows of 2013. I'm not going to go into why it's so amazing because you've all probably heard it before.

Brushes
The Model's Prefer Crease Brush and the Revlon Smokey Eye Brush have been my favourite brushes for this year. Using the crease brush has made blending so much easier and I have a full review of the Revlon brush here.

So those are my makeup favourites of 2013, I can't wait to see what products I fall in love with this year. Don't forget to enter my giveaway which is still running and is open internationally. You can find it here.

What were your favourites of 2013? I'd love to know

Weekly Lustables

Hello Lovelies,

This week has been such an amazing one, filled with new years celebrations, drinks and romance. Alex and I took a trip down the coast and stayed at Conrad Jupiters, which was a treat and a half. One of the only bad things about this week has been the massive heat wave that has hit us, yesterday it reached 41 degrees Celsius which is roughly 105 Farenheit!!!!! We were literally melting, thank god my house has air con, but it has definitely made it hard for me to go for runs since my window is either extremely early in the morning or in the small window of evening where I've still got a little energy left. Now onto my favourties, I'm trying to keep them to 4 each week so that they really are the standouts of each week.

1. Conrads Trip -  On Thursday Alex and I drove down the coast and although it was overcast it didn't put a holt in the heat. I rarely get to go down the coast so we were making the most of it and went to putt putt, which i got completely smashed by Alex, it was hilarious how bad i was, I did however get 3 holes in one on the second course. After putt putt the sun really got to us and so did our stomachs. Since I hadn't each much for brekkie and he had we had to find somewhere where I could eat heaps and he could get a little bit of food. Luckily on our travels we stumbled upon a sushi train, and it was just sublime. Further down the road we reached Conrads and took refuge from the heat in the casino before we could check in and for the first time I played Pokies hehe. By check in time we were pooped and dying for a swim. Due to our dorkiness we couldn't figure out the lifts and got stuck on them for 15 mins and when we finally got to our room, we'd been given two doubles instead of a king which was annoying, but we were too tired to change, so off to the pool/spa we went. Later that night we went to dinner and had the best burgers ever, followed by Zircus, which was a circus show that was on. We were 4 rows from the front and it was absolutely spectacular. All in all it was a perfect trip :)

2. Real Techniques Expert Face Brush - I wanted to mention this last week but I'd only used it once and thought I'd give it a few more uses and HOLY MOTHER OF GLOB it's the most heavenly brush. I've never gotten such a flawless finish, it buffs everything flawlessly into the skin and the bristles are super soft and durable. Can't wait to try more Real Techniques brushes throughout this year.

3. LUSH Ponche Shower Gel - When I got this in the Christmas Gift set from Boxing Day sales I didn't think I would like it very much, but I've used it nearly everyday since I've got it and it's absolutely fabulous. The scent is so amazing, the citrus isn't two powerful but still has that kick that I can definitely says wakes you up. It's such a shame this is limited to Christmas, will have to pick up a big bottle next year.

4. University of Washington's Stereotypes - Defying Gravity - One of my friends sent me this the other day and I haven't stopped listening to it, I mean it's still on repeat as I write this post.

What have you been loving this week? I'd love to know

LUSH Snowman Bath Ballistic

Although mine isn't as cute as other people's, I picked up the LUSH Snowman Bath Ballistic during the Boxing Day sales and got to use it this week. Admittedly I bought it purely for my trip down the coast this past week, since I would have at my disposal, a bath capable of suiting my 5'11'' body. I was aiming on picking up the Candy Mountain Bubble Bar but they were all out when I went and I settled for this fella.

This was my first LUSH Bath Ballistic experience and all I can say is how blown away I was by the quality. I popped this guy into the tub and was immediately impressed with the scent, which is all about the florals. LUSH says the scent is made up of vanilla and ylang ylangs with cocoa butter chunks and well the combination is simply gorgeous. The second I hopped into the bath I gently slipped into a serene sense of relaxation. When I initially put it the bath, the water turned pink but got diluted by the tub filling up. I cannot say that I've ever had a bath that was this moisturizing, it was simple divine. It's kinda a shame that it's only available at Christmas hopefully I can get another one next year.

Have you tried any LUSH Bath products? I'd love to hear your thoughts :)

2014 Inspiration - #2014BloggerChallenge

2013 was such an amazing year, if I do say so myself. It was filled with new friends, new loves, new adventures such as uni and music festivals and of course, blogging. I couldn't be more thankful for such an amazing year, also seeing as it was my first year out of high school and my inaugural year into the real world. And with such a wonderful year, it's hard to say goodbye, so a change of perspective is needed, no goodbyes, only hellos. So it's time to welcome 2014.

Now there is one event that is happening in 2014 that is literally my entire inspiration to make changes for the better in my life. A couple of weeks ago I got a phone call which literally made me jump for joy, my sister rang me and to be honest I wasn't quite sure why at first, since my mum was crazy busy with work and my siblings hardly find a reason to call me, when they know I'll be home within hours. She immediately told me that my mum had finally had a break from work at 3am that morning and starting planning some crazy holiday (which is literally her favourite pastime) whose plans normally get forgotten through a night of sleep or become financially unreasonable. Since my mum was so dead from work when my sister said, mum is booking a holiday, I assumed it was down the coast for the weekend or something along the likes. Instead she replied with, "Mum wants to know if you're okay with a Caribbean cruise late next year, with of course, a week and a bit in Disney World?",  I swear for a few seconds I went into shock, this wasn't actually happening. Of course I answered and was like HECK YEAH!

Here's a little back story, when I was little, around 8 years old, my mum told me to find a place in the world and make a little report on it as a holiday activity. I had no idea Walt Disney World existed and when I discovered it, I spent not just the rest of my holidays researching but the rest of life until now, preparing a trip, that in my eyes, was never going to eventuate.

You could definitely say that I'm excited and it has really enthused my entire family to make some new directions for 2014.

Personally I'm not one for making a whole heap of resolutions that I drop after a week, take last year for example, my goals were to make friends and to live a little, to practically embrace uni life and take it by the helm. I ultimately did those and I think the pitfall of making yearly goals is making too many or ones that are unachievable. Keeping in mind Disney World and the Caribbean I've set myself some goals to work towards an amazing reward.

Like almost every other person in the world, I aspire to get fitter and hopefully loose a bit of weight in the new year. Now I know this one is more likely to be achievable this year than any other, this due to me beginning to exercise and eat healthier during last year. And also because I enjoy exercising, I don't see this consuming me or becoming something I give up on easily.

This is a given when you are planning on going on a big overseas holiday, but to save money and hopefully get a job. I've been on a job hunt for awhile now and had a few interviews here and there but nothing ever eventuated, hopefully 2014 will be the year. I also hope to get better grades, but they are already quite good, so it's more about getting involved with uni events.

Now my inspiration for 2014 is clearly my holiday at the end of the year that will motivate me and I suppose we all have our reasons for why we make goals or our inspiration for positive change, my only message and motivator is to not give up. Every year we are faced with challenges and most times they are unavoidable, but we set these goals so that we can achieve something and that feeling of reaching that point is what will make those tribulations simply disappear.

I wish each and everyone of you an amazing 2014 and I hope that what ever it is that you set your mind to this year, that you don't give up and make this year, one you'll never forget.

xoxo
